Mom is Great!! (??)

I received a surprise from my children this evening before they went to bed. I share this only because of just how sweet their little hearts can be and not to lift myself up. (In all reality, I can highly debate most of these.)

Mom Is Great

1. Mom is great because she disciplines us.
2. Mom is great because she has grace for us.
3. Mom is great because she feeds us.
4. Mom is great because she clothes us.
5. Mom is great because she helps us when we're sick.
6. Mom is great because she gives us chocolate cake. (They learned this after Underdog and I saw an old episode of Cosby Show we're Cliff is singing "Dad is great, given us chocolate cake" while he serves cake for breakfast. LOL!!!!)
7. Mom is great because she homeschools us.
8. Mom is great because she takes us to co-op.
9. Mom is great because she cares for us.
10. Mom is great because she loves God.
11. Mom is great because she's like chocolate cake. LOL!!!!

Speaking of great moms. I have one!!! She and I had a disagreement yesterday. Isn't it amazing how God can use those sinful and stupid moments in your life to bring you closer to someone and cause you to appreciate them more? My mom hurt my feelings and I turned around (without even thinking about what I was saying) and I hurt her more. It wasn't in retaliation that I hurt her. I hurt her when I was trying to make a point about my own hurt feelings. Duh!!!!

My Pup #4 (soon to be introduced as "Scholar") loves me to sing "Jesus Loves Me" to him slowly at night. Notice the word "slowly". HA!!! Anyway, as I was singing to him I had a flashback to when my mom would sing to me. I nearly cried. I had forgotten those wonderful times when I felt so safe with my mom.

Somehow the busyness and hardness of life can cause us to forget the better times we had with our parents. I have some of the greatest memories of my mom when we lived in our little house in Lubbock, TX with the huge backyard, giant tree, and large garden gated to keep the dogs out. I was still very innocent then and I treasure the memories of my happy mommy. She led me in a prayer to receive Christ one night after my Pioneer Girls meeting. She was a great mom!!!! She may believe she was flawed in every way (she wasn't) but she led me to Christ and that is the most important thing she did with her life as a mom. I am most thankful for that.

Here is my "Mom is Great" list.

1. Mom is great because she taught me about Jesus and led me to Christ.
2. Mom is great because she sang to me at night.
3. Mom is great because she got up in the middle of the night once to check on the "ghost" in my closet (it was a poster that fell off my door.)
4. Mom is great because she spent a long time sewing me a green laundry bag with a green snail on it to take to Girl Scout camp. She also nearly always sewed my Halloween costumes.
5. Mom is great because cared enough to take me to the doctor for my asthma even though she had always grown up with little or no help for hers.
6. Mom is great because she loved animals and taught me to love them.
7. Mom is great because she taught me how to be frugal when it was really necessary.
8. Mom is great because she loves old things and gave me that passion as well (my brother and I used to laugh that mom can tell you every episode of the Brady Bunch after seeing 10 seconds of the show. She loves antiquing as well. I am turning into my mom is that way. I prefer the old ways and wish we could go back to simpler times.)
9. Mom is great because she loved my dad (even when they had rough patches.)
10. Mom is great because she taught me about modesty and she didn't even know she was. :) (I still can't wear a short skirt without feeling naked. She never really liked short skirts.)

And my top reason why Mom is Great!!!!

Mom is great because God made her my mommy. No other would do for me!!!!!
